Scotch Kitchen 1st October 2019

Happy Anniversary to Scotch kitchen. Yes it’s been one year since I made my kitchen public as you may call it, to me its just since I started sharing my beautiful hobbie. Let me start from the very beginning I am the last born of four girls in my family cooking was not part of my Agenda when I was growing up as i had three beautiful sisters and my mum who could do anything I wanted in my opinion my sisters and mum love me so much hence I was not really acquitted to that part of the house. (Kitchen)

As I grew up I was a tom boy (A girl who acts like a boy I stand to be corrected) so cooking or even kitchen chores were a no no to me. (Quick fast forward) I grew up then I had to move to a different country not town COUNTRY for greener pastures. I had to learn a lot in a very short time and also I had to learn that if you are hungry you ought to feed yourself no one cares for your stomach apart from you. My mum was so worried for me being the baby of the house and leaving the country, how would I survive because in Africa food is life and not just food plenty of food is life. So the first time I left home she packed my suitcase with lots of different foods from chapos (chapati) to nyoyo (maize, beans and ground nuts cooked together) some dried fish and vegetable Just to name a few, i felt really helpless because I kept asking myself what I will do when this stock is finished. It was such an emotional moment but that said look at me now .

Let me go back a to where i started again , I had to learn how to use a cooker with an oven the right pans and cutlery . The correct temperature when cooking ,the correct amount of spices to put on food. Mainly not to burn the food(over cook) or un cook it (serving it raw) all this was going to be like climbing a mountain a challenge I was not looking forward to but i had to tackle. (Fast forward again) now i got my boys with me my number one fans who will eat whatever i cook and will never give me a bad feed back apart from “please mum can we not have this food again”. As i practice my hobbie i realised it was now turning into a talent and even my friends started enjoying my meals every time they would visit they would really enjoy my cooking and ask for a goody bag when it was time for them to leave. As for my boys they would always ask if we could have a type of meal twice as my cooking was getting better.

Just like a joke i started publishing pictures of my lovely meals on my Facebook wall and with time the more comments i got the more encouraged i felt. As i already run a few other business on Facebook i felt that this is going to be so hard for me to keep up with but me being scotch and always love a challenge i decided to go along with my boys dare. Scotch kitchen Facebook page was then created a year from today and all i started with was more pictures of the end results for my meals which then progressed with videos of me cooking, with my viewers only seeing my hands but not face. After a few more live videos i started getting comfortable with recording while cooking my daily meals so i decided it was finally time for my viewers to meet me in person. (mark you my son was the camera man at that time such a difficult task which he did with so much ease like a professional)

This sparked more viewers, likes and different comments including messages giving me tips on how to work Scotch kitchen and also my viewers to be able to engage and also talk to them while i was cooking . This became an almost daily thing and i always managed to squeezed in my daily activities,my boys activities my job and personal busy life in the 24hrs day which many viewers were so encouraged by and also started taking to their own kitchen.

Scotch Kitchen is a place where we both learn how to cook with lots of laughter relaxation, love and believe that the outcome will be perfect. So far we are improving each and everyday, example my lovely son being my camera man and audience to me having a proper personal production and recording and also having actual viewers that is you. I am so blessed and mostly all hard work always pays if you believe in yourself and manage your time efficiently you will always find a way to do something that will make you happy.

Cooking makes me so happy and i love that i am able to share this passion with so many people all over the world. Scotch Kitchen is an international kitchen as i have been able to travel a few countries to make it happen for people at their own homes with their own ingredients. Yes all this is just because i believe i can and that is why i am writing this today to tell you that with passion, determination, love, encouragement and self believe you can make it. One year down the lane i look back at all the pictures, members, groups, comments, messages that Scotch Kitchen has produced and i am so happy that i have touched so many people out there.

To my very proud mummy and sisters(my number one fans) who took good care of me when i was young until i left my comfortable pastures i will always thank you as you are and will always be my rock and will never miss my live videos no matter what. I love the way you always remind me and nag me to go on live as you are hungry even though you are miles away, that push is enough encouragement to keep me going. For my boys my critics and the people who always request for those meals for you are the menu makers i thank you for always being their for me and always eating my food without complains we will always have plenty to come. For my lovely friends who always enjoy a taste of Scotch Kitchen keep on coming and i will always be there to feed you with my lovely touch of LOVE from Scotch Kitchen, i love you more. Lastly to the people who run scotch kitchen YOU the viewers i would like to thank you for always watching the live videos despite the time difference with you i am always encouraged to share more each and everyday, keep on spreading the love of Scotch Kitchen out there and lets make it bigger and better as i will always be there to share. Thank you all for being YOU. only @Scotch Kitchen.

The Scotch Kitchen turned up and provided food for our Platinum Jubilee picnic in the park event. They were well organised logistically and the food was delicious. The chicken was so tender it was falling off the bone and had just the right amount of spice. The rice was next level, I seriously want to know your recipe and your cooking technique. Would be delighted to have you attend any future community events that I organise.
